A Busy Day

A Busy Day

Where to start?  Too much to do
I can’t remember who is who
Or what is what, or where or is where
My mind is simply everywhere

The problems mounting, can’t see through
Demands for time and money too
There’s just too much, the day is late
So most of it will have to wait

But surely life won’t always be
This crazy for the likes of me
There must be quiet and peace somehow
A day of rest, let’s have that now!

Remember then, to take this rest
For life can’t always be so stressed
Even our creator took
Some time to stop and quietly look

There’s so much good within your life
You might not see amidst the strife
So even more’s the need to stop
Review your ways, perhaps close the shop

Then when refreshed, you’ll carry on
Another day has come and gone
You might feel it was wasted – No!
If always busy, your life can’t grow

A Dollar To Start

A Dollar To Start

A dollar to start, then ten to grow
A hundred tomorrow, go with the flow
You’ll soon be rich, don’t worry at all
We’d never like to see you fall!

We’re here to help, just take your card
And pay right now, it’s not so hard
It’s only numbers, smile and play
Don’t fear tomorrow, enjoy today!

So how’s it going, old friend of mine?
I’m calling to see if all is fine
Oh right, you’re not so happy now
It all went wrong, I shan’t ask how

I thought you might want one more chance
You went elsewhere, come back and dance
My game is better, so let’s begin
This time you’re really going to win!

I hope you’re happy, I need to check
The wheel has stopped, you left the deck
There’s no more action, no more cash
So once again, you had to dash?

I know you want to go, be free
I understand, that’s just like me
But this, your only chance has gone
You lost your money, the game goes on

But now you’re free, you’ll never be back
The greed you had will now attack
Another wanderer, hoping high
To have a chance before they die

So just remember, when living at last
Your hopes of riches have far from passed
A dollar to start, your dreams come true
If that first dollar is coming to you

I’m Here For You

I’m Here For You

I’m here for you through thick and thin
Respecting you, in courage or sin
The Lord can judge, but never I
For I’ll be judged too, when I die

The time can pass, lives come and go
Whilst talents are wasted we’ll never know
So sad, yet somehow there’s always hope
For many, enough to daily cope

So have no fear of what you know
You’re never alone when things seem slow
There’s need for patience and self-restraint
Miracles come from an austere saint

Don’t wait to ask, I’m here right now
Be brave and try to find out how
Your life can change and grow anew
A word away from dreams coming true

Be cautious, yes, for times are strange
But all is possible when things change
The devil you thought you knew has gone
But life each day continues on

Confusion in this play of words
It challenges rock-stars, also nerds
So realise you must seek what’s true
Remembering that I’m here for you

A Better Day

A Better Day

Today is time for powerful light
Cast off the shadows of the night
Progressive thoughts and nothing more
Think what the future holds in store

The pain of yesterday now has passed
Such misery could never last
For everything changes out the blue
Power and energy, all is new

Rising upwards, never stop
Ignoring barriers to the top
For everything is possible now
Faith, hope and love don’t question how

All systems go, tell every soul
You’re surging onwards to your goal
There isn’t a single way you’d quit
You weather the storm, all benefit

Success comes to the open and free
Not to the fearful, look at me
My wings are spread and currents are strong
The thermals surging all day long

No stopping the force of this intent
No doubting amidst the mourners lament
Although life’s tapestry still weaves all
There’s only space for one clear call

The call is good, the race is on
There’s no denying the light which shone
By force unseen, all swept away
At last revealing a better day

The Dusty Road

The Dusty Road

The dusty road may seem quite bleak
Of waste and death it threatens to reek
A skeletal form, and perhaps some blood
And see the glistening vulture’s beak

Why might you wish to walk that way?
What could possess your steps to stray
Into the place where no good lives
A barren wasteland every day

Yet some do go, I must inform

They’ve seen inside the traveller’s storm
We heard reports from deep within
Stories which certainly aren’t the norm

The swathe of people every day
In office and retail sell more clay
And yet we’re only clay ourselves
Look closely, do you want to pay?

So perhaps amidst the glistening jewels
You might be tempted to break the rules
When nothing satisfies your need
You’ll want to walk away from fools

Then turn away from ‘greed is good’
Such nonsense can’t be understood
For goodness comes from those who care
If people can’t see, they really should

Yet words like this are often cast
Away from fortune’s fiery blast
To quiet untrodden paths unseen
The dusty road, where truth will last

The Cuckoo

The Cuckoo

The cuckoo may come, but have no fear
For friends are also very near
Remember who you need to see
And talk each day, be open and free

For if you close your heart to truth
Recoiling when it bears a tooth
You’ll never move on to where you’re called
You’re hopes and dreams, forever stalled

So whilst there’s time and life prevails
Please speak your mind, it never fails
You may hurt some and help the rest
So what?  The truth is always best

Your nest is warm, the chicks are fed
The evening fades, you’re all in bed
Be sure tomorrow, something new
Either with or without you

Don’t be naive, stay wide awake
Don’t let the cuckoo try to take
Your heart or wallet, or even your soul
For one of these will be his goal

Now don’t be scared by what you know
For earthly things one day will go
We’re passing through, so have no fear
The cuckoo moves on, but love stays near

The Strangest Day

The Strangest Day

You wake and find a different room
This place resembles an ancient tomb
With artefacts of gold and dust
Magic and danger somehow loom

You glance around and wonder why
Above you stars, an open sky
Yet you are trapped and can’t escape
So think quite fast, you have to try

How came you to this wonderland?
You’ll never know or understand
It’s way beyond your wildest thoughts
You’re now the stranger in a foreign land

So what’s the move you need to make?
Don’t think there’s been a huge mistake
You are just where you have to be
But now make plans, for goodness’ sake

There are no animals, nothing stirs
Just skulls and skins, teeth and furs
The remnants of another time
Yet here you are, amidst the verse

Try every door, try every lock
You have some keys, here comes a shock
One of them fits, unlocks for you
The strangest day upon this rock

Angelic Voices

Angelic Voices

An angel spoke to me today
The news she brought I can’t yet say
But rest assured the future’s good
For every soul there is a way

If to this weary writer came
A heavenly message with powerful flame
Then good news can be heard by all
For in the end we’re all the same

Now sometimes there’s disbelief around
I’m not so far above the ground
To let those things unnoticed pass
For doubting also makes a sound

There isn’t a time mankind has seen
Where nothing of mystery’s left to glean
There’s always chance for something new
Surprising light on where we’ve been

Because the future’s coming fast
You should hold on to what will last
For much will go, quicker than sand
Leaving memories of the past

So nothing more for now, dear friend
Except a gentle word to lend
Stay open for the positive news
For angels, time will have no end

The Devil You Know

The Devil You Know

Better the devil you know, they say
Why hope for more?  We’re only clay
But what if something different waits
Far more important than today

I don’t imply you must change all
For sometimes writing’s on the wall
Simply keep an open mind
And brighter things may also fall

Your garden is not the only truth
A world around you gives some proof
And then beyond, far more indeed
So what is out there, super-sleuth?

An honest answer’s always best
The truth is we don’t know the rest
Experience comes to many in time
And each feels slightly cursed and blessed

A mixture of the strangest things
And all succumb, both saints and kings
To mystery which lives through all times
Desire to be lord of the rings

So Frodo, mark these words down well
The future’s not mine or yours to tell
Seek on of course, but know for sure
The devil’s not better, he’ll bring you hell!

When Eagles Dare

When Eagles Dare

The eagle flies high above us all
And even sparrows, ’till death, won’t fall
So why do us humans blunder on
Today we run, tomorrow we crawl

We have potential, this much I know
And perhaps eventually this will grow
Yet mostly watching from the lines
We’re wondering why life doesn’t flow

So try and let the worries go
And find out what you have to show
The world is waiting for your gift
Remove the barriers, let it glow

Yes, face the barrage of human doubt
With all the chaff we can do without
Then gently sort it to one side
And with your talent quietly shout

Is caution wrong in modern times?
Is this among your list of crimes?
You’ll find that boldness can be best
But not too much, for life’s a test

The test is always on, each day
So try to rise beyond the fray
You know that eagles dare to fly
Why not the likes of you and I?
