Fruits of Life

Fruits of Life

The fruit, they say, won’t fall too far
But fruit has neither legs nor car
A man is not a fruit you see
He yearns to grow and to be free

So watch the fruit and see, it’s still
That’s not the way of human will
It moves and changes every day
It always has something to say

So find the truth of who you are
Reach out for the furthest star
You see it glistening, don’t pretend
That without this the tale must end

You know exactly what you need
Deep down a task you have to heed
It’s no use hiding from what you know
Move on with courage, you’re free to go

Yet also think on what is real
Don’t be too quick to make this meal
Be sure that when you take the knife
The fruit is good, will bring you life

For not all food is of this kind
The world is vast, and many are blind
You need to check the branch and root
And then, perhaps, devour the fruit

Doors

 Doors

When doors are slamming in your face
And you’ve almost deserted the human race
When friends are few and troubles grow
Just stop and think – where can I go?
There’s always hope for sincere hearts
When life is rough, and help departs
There’s still a chance that things can change
For life is bigger and far more strange

We’re drifting on an earth of dust
It’s full of passion, of fear and lust
But also beauty can be found
Don’t wait too long on common ground
Explore, be free, for life goes on
Move forward before all this is gone
Courage and hope in face of doubt
Discover what you can’t live without

For sometimes things need to be lost
Forget the meaning and the cost
As something else is waiting near
It can’t approach whilst still lives fear
The answer to your deepest prayer
The reason why you’re waiting there
At last you have wide open doors
And life begins, so fight your cause

Dreams

Dreams

Without dreams your life is dry
The only water, when you cry
Keep hopes alive and never forget
You have much more to do as yet

If sleeping is your only goal
Then where’s the life, where’s the soul?
Each moment is a chance to learn
One step further at every turn

So if your course has not been set
It’s time desire and action met
Make choices now and start to act
With someone, something, make that pact

But careful now for minds can turn
To lower realms where fingers burn
The devil is hungry and always waits
So be prepared for what he baits

The chances are you want much more
What might the future keep in store
Set values high with virtue strong
Take time and caution, you won’t go wrong

Think positive now and charge your mind
Meet people who are good and kind
These words I write in many reams
Such is the need for hopes and dreams

Summer Breeze

Summer Breeze

Holiday time!  Switch off, relax
Don’t answer phone, email or fax
The world won’t end if you’re not there
Let someone else your burden share

Fly far away, escape the grind
Don’t fear of falling far behind
For something else will come along
Returning, sing a different song

A song of new, surprising joy
Which old thought-patterns can not destroy
This break has turned your whole life round
You’re marching to a different sound

You’re free to choose another way
You’ve reassessed just how you play
Each item on your list to do
Now appears completely new

So what has happened?  What can I say?
The summer breeze has cast away
The doubts and troubles you had before
It’s paved the future – so what’s in store?

A life of helping other souls
A time to find your true life goals
No longer blindly following on
The breeze has blown, the light has shone

Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam’s a dear old man
He’s always scheming some great plan
He’s fun to know, he’ll always play
He’s wide awake ‘most every day

He welcomes all, both great and small
He’s there for you whenever you call
You know he’s busy but still he cares
He has the time, he gives and shares

I’ve watched this guy for many a year
From miles away, in awe and fear
He has an open heart and mind
He knows how to be cruel and kind

It’s opportunity mankind needs
And Uncle Sam will plant the seeds
He watches where things grow and die
He learns as others fall and fly

He takes it in, he keeps account
Strategising from the mount
You won’t get much past this wise soul
His mind is always on the goal

The goal of freedom, truth and hope
Helping those who cannot cope
He’ll smile and say ‘friend, here I am’
So trust him, dear old Uncle Sam

Think Positive

Think Positive

Positive thoughts all through the day
Will help keep fear and doubt at bay
I’ll start you off, have these on me
There’s not a cost, they’re all for free!

You’re great and powerful, You can win
The game’s worth playing, let us begin
The day is full of joyful times
You’re not a prisoner of others crimes

Your life’s your own, you have a chance
You’re free to sing and free to dance
You won’t lose out, as love’s your goal
Think loving thoughts, give them your all

You don’t need more, you have enough
Yet more is coming, times aren’t so tough
You have a chance to change your view
The world each day becoming new

You’re looking forward with such power
Which now increases by the hour
You’re breaking chains and freeing minds
With such bright action, it nearly blinds

The people passing by can see
They just see you, they can’t see me
So keep my thoughts inside this day
Then grow your own – the positive way

Liberty

Liberty

All is possible in this world
The flag of liberty’s now unfurled
So keep in mind some caution, friend
Think how you’d like this day to end

The things you do will not be missed
Each action will be on the list
Of life’s events, both great and small
The good and bad, each rise and fall

So what does freedom mean to you?
What are you now inspired to do?
Thinking of yourself and greed
Or perhaps what other people need

Your time and care, that doesn’t cost
In many ways the world is lost
A simple smile or word each day
Could make the difference and pave the way

The way for making others lives
That little more peaceful, hope arrives
So make the effort, with liberty
Help others to find a life so free
