The Challenge

Challenge

Challenge is good, we need to grow
We learn more than we’d ever know
And walls we thought we’d never breach
With every brick will guide and teach

So don’t dismay when faced with this
When things we aimed for somehow miss
For good will come, in time at least
The lesson’s learned, you’ve slain the beast

And moving forward new things come
All this too much, I know, for some
Yet nevertheless another day
Shall bring more changes into play

Face up then to the challenge you see
I promise it wasn’t set by me
More likely it was set by you
Think deeply, just what did you do?

And if the answer can’t be seen
It’s time to give the slate a clean
And start again, with fiery zeal
The challenge lives on, so believe it’s real

The Turning Tide

The Turning Tide

Never doubt that tides will turn
If nothing changed, how could we learn
Such lessons which we all must know
Amazing times through which we’ll grow

No fear then, for the day is late
Procrastination will have to wait
It’s time for action, get to work
And never from your duties shirk

Each action makes a change indeed
Each switch, each wink, all things are seed
And what is growing around your mind
The future comes, let’s not be blind

For many years ago, it’s true
Grandparents taught ‘God’s watching you’
And now amidst the fields of dust
We know we’re watched, but who to trust?

The cameras, satellites homing in
On every passion and every sin
The world has changed in ways unknown
And meanwhile children now have grown

So be aware it’s not the end
Your mind plays tricks, it can pretend
But truthfully, life is open wide
Be patient for the turning tide

The Search

The Search

Time will change all that we know
A million things can come and go
And what remains through all of this?
The search for freedom, truth and bliss

There’s no time for excuses here
Each man can fight beyond his fear
And find that nothing else is real
Except the search which all can feel

Mysterious, yes, but not so dark
The bite still waits beyond the bark
We’re not yet there, there’s time to find
Keep searching yet remaining kind

For all that’s done returns to you
A hundred-fold – regard the queue
So many reapings which await
Take care today what you create

No stopping this, the wire is cut
The fuse burns on, the past is shut
Look forward, for the sun shines bright
Despite the search through day and night

And when you find the fish you sought
Don’t be surprised by what you caught
The world broods on with quiet delight
The search remains within our sight

A Peaceful Mind

A Peaceful Mind

A peaceful mind can not be bought
And nor can any hope or thought
These things are worth more than we’d guess
And money can bring both toil and stress

I called an old friend just today
And how surprised to hear him say
He’d made a million, many times more
But now he’s wondering what it’s for

Sow values in your mind from now
Don’t worry about the why or how
But kindness, goodness every day
Will help to bring the positive way

For many a mind has hidden fears
Despite illusions through the years
And peace ignored whilst demons play
Take care my friend, we’re only clay

Happiness

Happiness

Happiness should be at the top
These lists we have don’t ever stop
We want a million things, but why?
Not one will matter when we die

The days will come and go, my friend
They’ll keep on going until the end
Then let’s enjoy the time we’re here
Don’t live with too much doubt or fear

No matter what comes, no matter from where
We need to find this power so rare
Which gives us vision beyond our toil
And all our enemies’ plans will foil

The dreams we have, the plans we make
Will take us somewhere, no mistake
So ask where happiness lives for you
And move there now, it’s simple and true

Handle With Care

Handle With Care

Life is fragile, well we know
Each soul a billion ways to go
Strong forces pull from every side
Sometimes you can’t enjoy the ride

Decisions are needed, things are real
A dream is not the final deal
So listen, yes, and read the signs
Then move with care through fields of mines

The future should be good for all
So what’s this grief which may befall?
The truth won’t let us hide from doubt
We want to live, not be without

Yet life’s explosive now and then
The wrong wire kills a thousand men
A reckless move could be the end
Many years it takes to mend

Then grow more strong each passing day
Until it’s time to move away
For life’s too short to simply stare
Take action in life, but handle with care

Have No Fear

Have No Fear

Fear won’t help, so keep it out
There’s no use hiding from those who shout
Or running away from every fight
Sometimes you need to say what’s right

For fear is used by those with greed
To keep the quiet and humble in need
The game goes on and innocents cry
The question keeps on running – why?

The ones who need to raise their voice
Will quietly wait, it’s everyone’s choice
And one day all shall suddenly change
The world is more than a little strange

So in the meantime, take some rest
And don’t imagine all are blessed
For some are damned, I have no doubt
Unless they change their lives about

And keep on dreaming, don’t give in
For human life is more than sin
We don’t just live to serve man’s greed
So rise from fear – be strong, take heed
