Respect
Sometimes people will surprise
You failed to see those shifting eyes
Their words, you thought, respected you
But now you know that wasn’t true
Relax, dear friend, for life runs deep
You’ll find your faith can take a leap
Ahead to pastures green and new
When you grow weary of this view
For you deserve a better deal
And those who hurt you now can feel
The light of truth which burns at last
As all now changes, very fast
Don’t dwell too much on what went on
You know that if respect had gone
There never was hope for happy days
Until the bar you chose to raise
But now you know you’re worth much more
The future holds delights in store
A deal that would please life’s elect
A place where you can earn respect
