The Devil’s Eggs
The menu’s vast with open eyes
Take care then, food can bring surprise
A red hot chilli or rotten egg
Could lurk amidst the goods we beg
For what we don’t know still is there
Beyond the veil of daily fare
Incoming with the milk and bread
Could be a scorpion we are fed
Don’t fear though, for with eyes to see
You’ll be alert now hopefully
Just use the things you know and trust
Discard the rest, you’ll see you must
A glowing heart with much to do
Can’t be derailed by eggs, it’s true
But if the devil has mixed one in
Then who knows what this could begin?
An egg of doom must not be ate
Or served to guests, they’ll have to wait
Don’t be too quick to cook it all
The devil may try, but let him fall
