What’s Beyond?

What’s Beyond?

What’s Beyond?  I hope you think
The answer won’t be found in drink
A clear mind is what we need
So much to learn, so much to read

And choose your books with care, my friend
For one day all of this will end
The things we’ve stored within our soul
Will make or break each earthly goal

Fear not, for life will lend a hand
When time is right you’ll understand
That every moment hides a chance
You choose to watch or choose to dance

Free will so precious and always there
It’s not enough to stand and stare
There’s more each day which can be done
Reach out, there’s plenty to be won

The answer doesn’t lie indoors
The screens have much, but info bores
And books can start you on a quest
But then move outwards, face the test

For each a different life to live
And different gifts to tend and give
Be sure to know yourself and yours
Beyond this plane?  The great outdoors…

Let it Shine

Let it Shine

Let’s slow down once in a while
Just take a rest, and make a smile
A smile which spreads helps others too
It doesn’t cost a thing to do

And even when a sadness hits
A smile need not be torn to bits
It still can live amidst the pain
It urges you, begin again

Another day, another face
It’s beautiful, the human race
And every effort is seen by all
So let’s try harder lest we fall

A positive thought has power you see
Far more than guessed, and all for free
True wisdom hides, waits for a sign
A smile could help, so let it shine

Life Goes On

Life Goes On

Rise from doubt, for light has shone
Reveals each day that life goes on
No time to wallow in the deep
Search skywards for the dreams you keep

The ones who help and challenge your mind
Are friends indeed, you know they’re kind
And yes their kind will help you now
Much more than one’s thoughts could allow

Despite our sloth and lowly thoughts
Some beauty lives between the warts
No matter what ails our feeble will
More comes in time, there’s passion still

The mirror looks back, and never lies
So looking deeply in your eyes
Instruct and order, hypnotise
Yourself to see it’s time to rise

Take action, just ignore the fear
Don’t go to far and keep friends near
A steady pace, the past has gone
And now you see that life goes on

Hidden Fears

Hidden Fears

What’s behind the pain and tears?
A heart of love or hidden fears?
Let’s question what the world displays
And search some more through mankind’s ways

Why fear?  For death will come to all
Life is a gift, we all must fall
One day the reaper’s twinkling eye
Will rest upon both you and I

And what of now?  What can we give?
For now’s the time we have to live
Insurance, fine, let’s have some sense
But no point getting too intense

The days slip by and chances pass
A seething, writhing, greedy mass
All tooth and nail and wanting more
But what of happiness, what’s in store?

Let’s step back now and see more clear
With crystal vision expose the fear
And slay it with extreme precision
That’s all for now, it’s your decision

Work and Play

Work and Play

So much to do but don’t dismay
A time for work, a time for play
All things in time will have their place
There’s always chance to find some space

You won’t move on to where you should
Unless the pace you set is good
The balance is crucial, please beware
An unknown demon’s always there

Be it stressed or lazy mind
Success won’t come to see this kind
It waits for when the soil is rich
And then arrives to make its pitch

Then still there’s chance to get this wrong
Your chance needs claiming, just be strong
For if you choose to look away
Then life won’t work, and none will play

The time has come to claim this gift
Enough has passed, no time to drift
Rise up from lethargy and from doubt
And work, play, learn what life’s about

Repentance

Repentance

So wrong was done, where do you stand?
Sometimes justice is shifting sand
Were you the sinner or victim here
What caused this, was it love or fear?

Step back now you’re not on the fence
And leave the garden, this makes sense
Perspective needed now for all
The answer won’t be in a brawl

Forgiveness and a time to think
Tolerant thoughts the missing link
A heart that’s ready to let things go
So hard sometimes, yes we all know

But never did bitterness help one drop
And crimes with this food will not stop
Be bold enough to step outside
Please try, for wounds you should not hide

And then when faced, a time for hope
A shift in gradient on life’s slope
The upward struggle begins to change
And help comes in, at first feels strange

So if you’ve found what makes a man
Then open-hearted form your plan
Repentance and the will to thrive
Will help you fly, not just survive

Power

Power

Some love power and say they care
And what’s the chance this power they’ll share
For those who love the power they hold
Will call each fight, they never will fold

And gentle people, wanting peace
Look on, surprised, as fears increase
And actions are now made each day
Without consent from those who pay

And what of those who misuse power?
The time ticks by each day, each hour
And media grows unstoppable now
Whilst those too slow just wonder how

How did they find me with these arms
How did they see through all my charms?
Naive is sin, for others see
And power can move, for men are free

You may say men aren’t free, I know
Not all can choose just where to go
But as the world now shifts and moves
More chance than ever that this improves

The cynical mind must open now
And ‘though demanding answers – ‘how?’
Accept that all will change at last
The future comes, the rest has past

And who then will deserve more power
The vacuum waits and people cower
Whatever we do, think long and deep
For more is learned in peaceful sleep

The dream of freedom all shall see
Perhaps in this lifetime, don’t ask me
But this I know of power to serve
The ones who love it do not deserve

New Life

New Life

All the people we have known
Some learned to fly, some whine and moan
Amidst the tumult of life’s harsh blows
We can’t just hide, for new life grows

You see the future’s coming at last
Those dreams and hopes are in the past
And now we face the light of day
As silent fears will slide away

Be on your guard, for with each change
The mind is charged, it may seem strange
But energy in this world is power
And wisdom needed every hour

In fact so much can change so fast
In seconds a hot or icy blast
Could toast or melt a dream or hope
Some rise above but some can’t cope

It’s time to help wherever we can
Not simply watch a happiness ban
With open minds and generous heart
New life will come, new life will start

Build Your Dream

Build Your Dream

The day has come for you to start
Your dream will be your work of art
Each piece is placed with loving care
The dream which with the world you’ll share

Don’t be put off by those who doubt
Your dream is what it’s all about
There’s reason for this thought you keep
Dream when awake and when asleep

And maybe it’s not bricks or wood
Whatever you need find now, you should
How can the building ever commence
If you’re still sitting on the fence

Take action, make things happen now
Although you still keep wondering ‘how?’
Remember that’s the loser’s way
Results come from a busy day

So make that call and find that place
Clear up that mess and wash your face
The day is new, the chances bred
But you won’t find them staying in bed

Your dream was born in far off lands
It hints that you could use those hands
For good, and helping those in need
So build that dream, that others may feed

When We Were Young

When We Were Young

The days were long when we were young
And to each hope and dream we clung
Because as children that’s the stuff
Which keeps us going when things seem rough

But look now, what has really changed?
Has life been so much rearranged
That hopes and dreams no longer dwell
Great visions we have and need to tell

It’s time to reconnect and see
The best things in this life are free
And ‘though bleak minds will argue on
The truth is stronger than this con

For letters and numbers learned at school
Can be passed ’round by any fool
And science in all its great intent
Is sold as seen, our thoughts were spent

And what is next when this is done
Has knowledge led on, have things been won?
A disconnect in life’s true way
Now where’s the answer, what to say?

The searching must go on until
The goal is found through strength of will
Nobody else will build your plan
It’s yours alone, so know you can

And sometimes life’s supreme surprise
So long concealed from wandering eyes
Is simpler than we’d ever have guessed
Takes so much toil to find our rest

Then here we come to what we sought
The dream from childhood we have brought
Through many mistakes and misplaced trust
We finally learn in time, we must!

We know the choices we must make
And now it’s time, we’re wide awake
Continue the song we first had sung
The dreams we had when we were young
