Time To Learn

Time To Learn

Time to learn and time to play
Keep searching and you’ll find the way
For education is the link
From where you ask to where you think

A million questions, one shines through
The simplest of them – Who Are You?
Reflect and find the honest truth
Then age won’t matter, nor will youth

So deep the joys, and troubles too
And yet somehow mankind pulls through
For every agent of our doom
A thousand angels also loom

Enjoy the time then, never shirk
For joy is also found at work
And every grace for which we yearn
Will reach us when we’ve time to learn

The Funny Man

The Funny Man

If you meet the funny man
You’ll find he does the best he can
To make you laugh and have some fun
With every joke beneath the sun

It’s quite a joy to meet this guy
Don’t think too much or question why
Enjoy the ride and shake his hand
His mind you’ll never understand

For some are born with funny genes
A gift for bringing happy scenes
You can’t explain how this could work
Or what behind the laughs may lurk

Be sure then as you wish him well
To spread the news he came to tell
That joy and laughter need a fan
So don’t ignore the funny man

Between The Words

Between The Words

What may lie between the words?
Is language pure, as with the birds?
Words may be twisted and controlled
Hear deeper into things you’re told

For disappointments seek the mind
Which takes as read all it can find
Too quick to believe and then to act
Each input makes a deep impact

And yet let’s not be closed or cold
We’ll take a look at what is sold
But will we buy it?  Take some care
You’ll find illusions everywhere

This world won’t stop, although we must
Let’s take a break from worldly lust
Step back and see who’s happy here
Some great surprises could be near

The ones who like to learn and grow
Who keep it simple as they sow
And then each day will reap some gain
Who can embrace both joy and pain

Don’t shy away from what is said
But check what’s entering your head
For information may be found
Between the words, without a sound

Where Things May Lead

Where Things May Lead

Who can guess where things may lead?
You learn today by what you read
And then tomorrow, with surprise
You’ve somehow grown a little wise

Be careful as you fill your mind
The deeper powers are never blind
With children more than ever, look
They’re quoting from that film or book

And now with strength beyond compare
The powers that be can find you there
Fear not, but see that none escape
When intervention comes to shape

Then what if friends from distant stars
Came down to mock our feeble cars?
The game is changed and new indeed
So now let’s see where things may lead…

Wide Awake

Wide Awake

Despite the dark I’m wide awake
I see some give and others take
I’m watching from a place of hope
And forming words to help us cope

The games play on, folk live and die
Whilst ships of light are in the sky
And eyes of wisdom watch in vein
As mankind seals its fate again

A planet lost in violent greed
Whilst beauty waits in every seed
A painful lesson for the young
That songs, at times, are left unsung

So where’s the hope?  I hear you cry
These words are willing us to die
Yet die we must, one day in time
Then what’s the value of a dime?

You see my friends, all things will pass
And that’s the key, we’re like the grass
One day to grow and play our part
Then time to sow as we depart

Think positive then, our time is now
To truly learn what we’ll allow
The future world is ours to make
How shall it be?  Stay wide awake

Life Won’t Wait

Life Won’t Wait

Take these words, as from a mate
The simple fact is: life won’t wait
Each day will come and go in turn
Some wasted it whilst others learn

Read on and work with what you must
Don’t be a slave to greed or lust
More precious days await the mind
Which grows beyond the lost and blind

Another clue from life’s rich field
With changing views, then life may yield
If stuck then nothing moves at all
The horse still waiting in its stall

And countless moves are played each day
The game of life won’t go away
So take your place and plan your fate
For anyone, this life won’t wait

Read and Learn

Read and Learn

With every book you’ll read and learn
Your soul may soar or it may burn
The pains and pleasures of life’s ride
No longer from our minds may hide

The stories are of human folk
Reminding us life’s not a joke
And all are part of one great mass
Each day things change and come to pass

So where then is your mind today?
A place of work or state of play?
As seeds are planted on the land
Your dreams and visions now are planned

Then let’s dream peace and grand designs
Your mind each picture now refines
And searching is your inner soul
To reach that long-expected goal

The outward world will try to take
Each blissful dream once you’re awake
But it will fail, for deep we yearn
And more each day we read and learn
