Happy Easter

Happy Easter

Happy Easter, one and all
Think what may be, what may befall
The future comes no matter what
For every soul, life has its slot

And yet a happy time eludes
Where doubt and darkness ever broods
Have caution as you journey on
Lest all your helpers may be gone

A time of angels and of saints
Aware of worldly vice that taints
How could we turn and not allow
The brightness to come through, somehow

A world of wonder in the mind
Which seeks but somehow will not find
For turning from some good advice
A million things could now entice

Take strength then from this Easter-time
For cynics it won’t cost a dime
No pressure, choose that love will win
At Easter let new life begin

Simple Lives

Simple Lives

Simple lives can bring such joy
That complications can destroy
Take time when choosing how to live
A gift we have, so what to give?

The daily message we receive
Might not be helpful, try to believe
The media and the voices tell
Of grim despair, a living hell

Yet what’s beyond the tales of doom?
In our small lives there must be room
For joyful times and kindly deeds
Prepare the future with these seeds

For all will grow from here and now
A change of heart we should allow
Stay open-minded, much arrives
When happy with our simple lives

Happy Thoughts

Happy Thoughts

What we need are happy thoughts
You won’t get far with other sorts
A joyful mind has chance to grow
To places where the rest can’t go

These crazy times we know too well
Despondent people never sell
A brooding soul may have some charm
But check the nature of his psalm

A warning comes when reaching out
And yet it’s best to have no doubt
The ancient blessing holds its course
The change we need, we mustn’t force

So in our busy, hectic lives
A ray of hope at last arrives
No cost at all, despair retorts
When faced with endless happy thoughts

Upside Down

Upside Down

We know the world is upside down
In every street, in every town
So much to change, but where to start?
It’s deep within, a change of heart

Tune out from all those boasting lies
Each word and gesture, thin disguise
For people say so much, but think
There always is a missing link

The jigsaw has so far to go
For all will reap just what we sow
Take time to find the missing lid
So long ago that this was hid

A riddle every day, indeed
For riddles sometimes we will need
No boredom here, so take the frown
And learn to turn it upside down
