Happiness Breeds

Happiness Breeds

Some days may seem dead and cold
No more to life than getting old
Yet one who learns and daily reads
Will come to know that happiness breeds

Within each line a new surprise
And multiplying alibis
When thought police come and quiz your mind
Surprise them with the dreams they’ll find

For strains of life are not all bad
Some joy and hope we all have had
And often just a word will bring
Those happy times of which we sing

The answer to each problem lives
Just turn a corner, life still gives
Emerging from the dark and gloom
A light of hope defies the tomb

Beyond this world into the next
The human mind is ever vexed
But take just one from all these seeds
Remember this – that happiness breeds

Enjoy Your Time

Enjoy Your Time

Of course a thousand things befall
And life’s not easy for us all
But don’t commit this heinous crime:
Not trying to enjoy your time

For life’s a gift and all should know
Whichever ways we choose to go
Good things await us patiently
And when we’re ready, we stop to see

Neglect of things which bring us joy
Could cause great harm and perhaps destroy
The peace we need to see us through
So take great care in all you do

The things which come we might have guessed
If we had peeped out from our rest
We have some power over what shall be
Enjoy your time!  Or why be free?

Hope For More

Hope for More

Why not take the chance to grow
Within your space, within your flow
Much more to come each passing day
No crime in wishing more your way

Then don’t hold back or feel that guilt
Your life before your eyes may wilt
A spark of life exists within
And yet, if quenched, you’ll never win

The greed exists, that’s plain to see
So keep in check what needs to be
But worse than wanting more than bread
Is doing nothing before you’re dead

Think positive and look forward, friend
We all are here, yet all must end
So in this time, though short it seems
Hope more than ever, fulfil your dreams

Remember

Remember

Remember what has gone before
For who knows what may be in store
The world is dangerous, all can be
What’s looking after you and me?

If we’re enjoying peaceful days
And have the time a glass to raise
From time to time we should give thanks
To those who bravely take their ranks

You know I wish that war was gone
And yet it always does go on
I struggle to see much good therein
But still I hope that good will win

And bravery?  Yes, no doubt it’s there
With those who deep down truly care
To be so selfless in this way
Deserves remembering on this day

Be Yourself

Be Yourself

Who are we if not ourselves
We’re not like toys upon the shelves
Our thoughts and dreams mean more by far
So be yourself, it’s who you are

The world will try to change you fast
And many agents work to cast
You have the chance to say ‘no way’
You see the game but will not play

And then when left outside the door
You’re wondering what life holds in store
Another chance for them to strike
For boredom is just what they like

So be on guard, for all is real
You must discern each glittering deal
The tricks are endless as the days
And rest assured they’ve devious ways

Yet none of this should make you cry
It’s one more chance to say goodbye
To all those things which daily fight
Your one true self you must ignite

War

War

In war none win, it’s full of lies
And when hope dies there’s no surprise
We’ll not accept this paradigm
We’re watching and we see your crime

The words we read can change our minds
Subliminal powers in music blinds
Look far beyond the daily rap
When truth comes it’s a thunderclap

And waking from a sleep of years
Each soul will see they played our fears
Whilst opulence and greed rage on
The masses weep as dreams are gone

There’s nothing glorious in this mess
You’re parading pigs in fancy dress
Expecting us to sing along
But we might sing a different song

So rise above the vice and stain
Of treacherous illusory gain
The games we play are dead, seek more
But never play the game of war

Visions and Dreams

Visions And Dreams

Visions and dreams each day may come
But here’s advice, a rule of thumb
Beware, for who knows where thoughts start
Learn more the truth of mind and heart

For outside agents have more power
Than any could guess, each passing hour
The world is busy, but don’t forget
Far more’s to come than we’ve dreamed yet

Each day a lesson, each year some light
Perspective on the constant fight
And on the sidelines of it all
We wonder who will rise and fall

No fear for us who have this time
To search and learn in verse and rhyme
A positive mind brings power each day
Whilst visions and dreams teach what they may

Darkest Secrets

Darkest Secrets

Secrets come and secrets go
But most of these we’ll never know
And yet – who cares?  We’ve much to do
No time to waste with ‘what is true?’

Ignore, then, what you speculate
The mind is deep, can contemplate
The wildest stories, great or dark
But most of these, way off the mark

Sometimes it’s hard to believe this world
A daily round of mud is hurled
Some make it pay whilst others hurt
And true enlightenment, inert

Find peace and joy, and help your friend
For fears and doubts will have no end
If goodness can be seen by all
Then darkest secrets have to fall

Good Things Come

Good Things Come

Good things come to those who wait
A patient heart is perfect bait
How could joy and love resist
A barren field which others missed

For all a time to sow and reap
Whilst goodness may pretend to sleep
Yet one eye’s open all year round
Awaits both dead and fertile ground

So never despair within life’s maze
For mankind has a billion ways
And all can change within a blink
Then soon appears a missing link

Look closely as the day unfolds
Surprises we all know life holds
And use this as a rule of thumb
When given chances, good things come

Higher Realms

Higher Realms

No matter what we choose to believe
The higher realms around us weave
And bring surprise to all who doubt
So listen closely, they won’t shout

Think what you’d like to do this day
Achieve a goal, cast fear away
Move on into a place you love
For they’re still watching from above

Keep searching for the place that’s right
For each their own, we all must fight
To beat the demons from our path
And find new life beyond the wrath

Be strong, for you will see the light
Be guided through the darkest night
And when you’re filled with joyful heart
The higher realms have played their part
