Deep Within

Deep Within

Search deep within and find what’s there
Then you’ll begin to truly care
For happiness comes to those who do
Some think that’s crazy, but it’s true

Most things don’t change, they ebb and flow
Within a range, they fall and grow
Perspective from an outside place
Brings light to those who hide their face

The time for mercy’s truly here
The race is run, love’s beaten fear
So workers, priests and sinners too
Regard what lies in store for you

No hiding when the truth is seen
Surprises come, yet all has been
What’s special in man is gentle hope
Not desperate striving, trying to cope

So keep on moving through these plains
Life is still proving hope remains
Be strong and face both grace and sin
Don’t search without, but deep within

What You Have

What You Have

Work with what you have, my friend
Things come, things go, and some things end
No point in wishing life away
Or wondering where went yesterday

For here and now is where we are
Say yes or no, you may go far
And if the dream was not to be
Then perhaps it’s time to try plan B

Fret not, for life’s too short you know
We’re here but then we have to go
At all times try to calm and bless
Why don’t some folk like happiness?

In simple pleasures and careful ways
Keep growing through your nights and days
And when you find some time, reflect
That what you have you can’t neglect

The Judge

The Judge

Daily choices must be made
Some charge right in, some are afraid
And who can be the judge down here
The web is complex, this is clear

So one steps forward, with the mind
To judge whatever he may find
A brave decision perhaps, you’d say
For truth is often hid away

And who could claim to see through strands
Of weaving gossamer by their hands
The judge has power, we hope, to win
To cut through lies, defeating sin

So let us hope and pray this judge
In matters of truth will never budge
For if a crime may come our way
We’ll need the judge to save the day

Who Can Tell?

Who Can Tell?

What brings tomorrow, who can tell?
Some things go wrong but some do well
And where are you within this maze?
In lighted rooms or smokey haze?

Be clear and move towards the day
Where joyful music ever will play
‘Though sometimes life can knock you down
Keep moving, find a different town

At last you’ll see there is a place
For every member of this race
If not in this world then the next
Expand your vision when perplexed

For grass and trees and seas of blue
Are full of beauty, this is true
But one day all must leave this place
And who can tell what’s out in space?

Do Your Best

Do Your Best

As the scouts say, do your best
Give life your all and then find rest
For here we are and next we’ll go
Such little time your best to show

Make haste then, see your life unfold
In places you were never told
For searching brings you into spheres
You never dreamed of ‘midst your fears

With strength you’ll move to find out more
You’ve searched within, right from the core
And ready now to make your stand
The future dreams at last are planned

Go quietly where this needs to be
Yet still remembering you are free
With faith and truth you’ll find you’re blessed
And what is more – you did your best

The Mountain Goat

The Mountain Goat

Out in the wild, without a care
With powerful horns and matted hair
The mountain goat lives through the cold
And has no fear of growing old

For life’s just life to such as this
One hour a struggle, another bliss
No fussing over price or deals
The mountain goat does what he feels

And when the mating season’s here
He carries on without a fear
Producing more of his own kind
When he a female goat can find

So keep things simple where you can
The world is crazy for a man
Too much of things we’ll never need
Whilst mountain goats may quietly feed

Suffering

Suffering

Who knows why we must go through
Some suffering when we speak what’s true
But often that’s the way things roll
We take the flak to reach our goal

And blameless souls can suffer too
For no good reason in our view
We stand amazed at what we see
No answers come for you or me

And yet why are we here at all?
A trillion people build and fall
Unending power which comes and goes
Some days are flat, in some life flows

So take the times which mean the most
And keep them close, but not to boast
For each of us will live and die
In suffering learn, let’s not just cry

Adventure

Adventure

Life’s adventure, make it good
Don’t be stuck by ‘could, should would’
For every passing day has gone
And we’re still here, life will go on

Dream harder, seek the things you love
And yet be peaceful as the dove
By forcing things you’ll never win
Go softly and let life begin

Then watch the dream unfold each hour
Don’t underestimate your power
For we all have our tales to tell
Be truthful and all will be well

But if the enemy strikes you down
There’s still no reason for a frown
You tried your best and beat the fear
And more adventurers now are here

Don’t Stop Now

Don’t Stop Now

Don’t stop now, you’re nearly there
So much to give, so much to share
And yes you’re tired, as all can be
But light is coming and then you’ll see

The steep incline of this last mile
Won’t bring relief or cause a smile
But once it’s done then all is new
‘No pain no gain’ is sometimes true

So weary traveller, don’t despair
When all is blurred and dark out there
The day will come when things are clear
And happy times are finally here

Words and numbers melt away
When powerful forces come to play
Life will be good, don’t question how
For many reasons – don’t stop now!

Beauty

Beauty

Beauty can be found by all
Each eye and mind will see its call
And yes some danger may be there
What can I say, except beware

For lured in is many a fool
Throughout each life, it starts at school
And some can’t seem to shake it off
Just like a wretched tickly cough

But here’s a thing you have to know
Through beauty you might learn and grow
If you can see in every place
Some hidden magic, timeless grace

The things which cause a soul to soar
Which call it on, still wanting more
Should have some beauty in the blend
For one day soon, all this will end
